BESPOKE KITCHEN / ORANGERY / GARDEN AND LIGHTING PROJECT – ROEHAMPTON LANE PUTNEY LONDON

BESPOKE KITCHEN / ORANGERY / GARDEN AND LIGHTING – DESIGN BUILD INSTALL PROJECT – ROEHAMPTON LANE PUTNEY LONDON

With this project Andy Stone were commissioned to design and run all aspects of this exciting project on Roehampton Lane, Putney, opening up their existing dark kitchen onto their stunning large garden. Teaming up with a building team Andy has known for over 20 years we opened up the whole back of the house installing solid Cedar bi-fold patio doors and a new hardwood Orangery. The lighting design was developed from the beginning alongside the kitchen and garden design incorporating Rako scene control technology allowing over 20 circuits to be controlled simultaneously from wall plates or your iPhone.

Into the new bright space we created a real family kitchen for sociable living using solid traditional hand painted English bespoke furniture sitting on a stunning new solid Oak Parquet floor. The design and equipment is cutting edge with; a vast hidden fully integrated Liebherr fridge freezer and “armoire” larder; an island prep sink; flush ceiling extraction over the induction hob and a separate washing up large under-mount bowl with boiling & filtered water tap.

The soft contemporary feel was created using Farrow & Ball’s Oval Room Blue for the base cabinets that complemented the existing Dark Blue Aga (not an easy choice as the client wanted soft greens) but going lighter on the wall and tall cabinets with F&B Light Blue that’s really a soft grey with hints of blue and green. This along with the clean elegant light Cimstone Arcadia composite tops, antique mirror splashback and multi-layered lighting creates a space that is bright and alive day and night.

All the light sources in the kitchen are dimmable and controlled in scenes from the low energy compact fluorescent up-lighting, under cabinet and down-light warm LEDs to the stylish prismatic pendants. This allows easy changing from bright cooking to soft mood lighting or to the alfresco summer dining setting when its time for a swim!
